Sarah Beth Masters' Obituary
Masters, Sarah Beth Thornell ~ Came into this world November 1, 1924, and departed into the loving arms of Jesus at the age of 86 on February 19, 2011. Sarah was born in Elmore County, Alabama. In her early 20s, she married Travis Jackson Filyaw. By him, she had three beloved sons, James Travis, Percy Wayne, and Frank Willard. After Travis and Sarah separated, Sarah came to Dallas. She held various jobs. Then she met her second husband, Cecil V. Masters. Cecil became a father to Sarah’s sons. Sarah remained his loving wife, caring faithfully for him through the years of his post-stroke impairment. No matter what trials came her way, Sarah was feisty, perky, and positive. She was generous and caring in her love of people. She had many caring and loyal friends and neighbors and was an active member of the Preston and Lake Highlands Family Groups. She focused much of her attention in her later years on helping elderly members of the church community of Northlake Baptist Church. She gave of self and was always ready to be a friend, qualities that were true gifts to those around her. The staff of Grace Presbyterian Village stepped forward to care for Sarah when she could no longer care for herself. The care and dignity that they gave and that she so deserved are greatly appreciated.
