Sarah Elizabeth Reid's Obituary
REID, SARAH , a resident of Dallas since 1935, passed away on January 12, 2013 at the age of 95. She was born to Clemmie L. and Claud Snow Morgan on October 6, 1917, and grew up in Pecan Gap, Texas. There she graduated from High School in 1934, and attended college at East Texas State Teachers College, later earning her degree at Dallas Business College. She married James “Jim” Yeager Reid, also from Pecan Gap, in June 1935; that same year they moved to Dallas. She was preceded in death by Jim, her beloved husband for over 60 years; their son, Jake. She is survived by her daughters-in-law Judy Reid and Nancy Dickinson; grandchildren, Rusty and wife Molly Reid of Fort Worth and Brian and wife Denise Reid of Mesquite; six great-grandchildren, Heather, Sainty, Jake, Trevor, Charlie and Emma Reid. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. In 1939, Sarah became a member Munger Place United Methodist Church, where she served in many leadership roles including The Ladies Missionary Society and The Progressive Class. Her career years were spent as a buyer and supervisor in lady accessories for Dreyfuss and Wolff Bros. for 33 continuous years. She was an active member and president in her book club, garden club and craft club. In addition, she was a member of the Dallas Ladies’ Forum Club and served as corresponding secretary and spent hours of volunteer work at the Wadley Hospital. The family would like to give a special thank you to Walnut Place and all of her caregivers. Through the years, she was loved and known by many as Mamaw and proud owner of her favorite furry friend, Jingle Bells. Service will be held on January 17, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Restland Wildwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to All Saints Episcopal of Forth Worth, 9700 Saints Circle, Fort Worth, TX 76108 and St. Pius X Catholic School, 3030 Gus Thomasson Rd, Dallas, TX 75228.
