Sarom Khiev's Obituary
Sarom Khiev was born on February 25, 1944, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and she left this world peacefully on January 4, 2026, at the age of 81, in Dallas, Texas. She is survived by 7 children: Sophorn, Sophea, Bora, Chenda, Rithy, Rithea, and Veasna; and 10 grandchildren: Christina, Sabrina, Angelina, Brittany, Brianna, Mitchell, Brock, Sarah Grace, Isabella, and Jameson; and one great-grandson: Elijah Matthew Yang.
Sarom Khiev was the perfect matriarch of the Som family. Her strength and fortitude were evident when she, along with her husband, Sary Som, protected their seven children by escaping the Khmer Rouge genocide in Cambodia to cultivate a beautiful family in the United States. Her nurturing nature and positive outlook in life were unmatched. She had an infectious smile that illuminated the room and warmed everyone’s heart who knew her.
Her children called her Mom or Meak. Her grandchildren and others called her Yay. We all experienced her as Real Love. We are so fortunate to experience this life with her. Sarom Khiev was the genuine definition of family values. Her enduring sacrifice and true unconditional love are manifested through her surviving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
