Scypion Jamaal Goodin's Obituary
Scypion Jamaal Goodin, affectionately known as “Sip” to family and friends, was born the
oldest of two sons to the union of Andrew and Pamela Goodin on September 17, 1978, in
Decatur, Alabama. When Scypion was five years old, the family moved to Dallas, Texas
where his younger brother was born.
Scypion gave his life to Christ at an early age; leading the way down the aisle with the
family in tow joining Hamilton Park United Methodist Church in November 1988. Scypion
and the family were baptized (by immersion) in April 1989. Scypion was regularly active in
the church as a youth. He completed the Confirmation Class, sang in the choir, and was
often called upon to sing solos. Scypion was an acolyte for many years and was a member
of the church Boy Scout Troop 573.
Scypion’s early childhood education was in the Richardson Independent School District
where he honed his baseball skills and developed a passion for music. The family later
moved to Carrollton, Texas where Scypion attended Newman Smith High School. Later,
he attended TJC in Tyler, Texas where his love for music continued. Scypion always had a
passion for helping others, so he later decided to become a Certified Massage Therapist.
Scypion began in the music industry by writing songs and making beats. He is known as
“Icewater” with many songs like “One of a Kind” on Spotify and other music platforms.
He was preceded in death by his only son, Kier Solomon; his maternal grandfather, Robert
Carson; his paternal grandparents Henry and Eva Mae Goodin; two aunts Julia Shaw and
Patricia Williams; five uncles Eddie Paul Goodin, Edward Goodin, Walter Goodin, Silas
Goodin, and Victor Jackson.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Andrew and Pamela Goodin of Carrollton, TX;
his brother, Jeron Goodin of Seagoville, TX; one nephew, Justin Goodin, two nieces Alayna
Goodin and Shelby Goodin all of Seagoville, TX; his maternal grandparents Wesley and
Betty Jackson of Del Rio, TX; five aunts, Pearl Williams of Bellflower, CA; Jacqualine
(Marcus) Selders of Oklahoma City, OK ; Sheila(Keith) Hatcher of Blue Springs, MO, Tara
Carson of Iowa City, IA, Asonya Jackson of Carrollton, TX ; two uncles, Jay Goodin of Los
Angeles, CA, Donnie Goodin of Birmingham, AL and a host of of beloved cousins, relatives,
and friends
