Serena Ann Arney's Obituary
Serena Ann Arney, age 63, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, October 24, 2009 in Sherman, TX, after bravely succumbing to her battle with cancer. Serena, known as Ann or Auntie to her family, spent most of her career years in Dallas, Texas as an information systems specialist before moving to East Texas. Her colorful persona and larger than life personality will be greatly missed. Serena was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Thomas E. Arney, and her mother, Neoma Pippin Arney. She is survived by her brothers, Thomas E. Arney, II, of Radcliff, KY, and James C. Arney and wife, Susan, of Denison, TX; her maternal aunt, Verna Gostecnik of Tyler, TX, and her paternal aunt and uncle, Mary Craig of Wichita Falls, TX, and Travis Arney, of Kosse, TX; her step-mother, Jeanne Arney of Oklahoma City, OK; and her step-brother, Jim Arnold and wife, Pat, of Little Elm, TX. “Auntie” is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, Lauri Arney of Radcliff, KY; Dru Arney of Plano, TX; Glenn Arney of Radcliff, KY, and Petty Officer 1st Class Taylor Arney, USN, and wife, Randi, currently stationed in Norfolk, VA; as well as eight grand nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas, at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2009. Rev. Neill Morgan of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sherman, Texas will officiate, along with Rev. Carol Hobson of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church of Denison, Texas, Chaplin with Home Hospice of Grayson County, Texas. Pallbearers will be cousins Larry Pippin, Bobby Pippin, Cletus Pippin, Robert Pippin, John Thorne, and Doug Steer. Visitation at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas begins on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. Final visitation will be held in the Wildwood Chapel for one hour immediately prior to the service.
