I work at SWA at Dallas Lovefield for the last 19 yrs. Ofc. Smith was always professional and courteous. Anytime we called for DPD to one of the gates for assistance, Ofc. Smith would be there to back us up and protect us!! My heart is breaking for the Smith family!! He was a great man and I'm sure a wonderful father and husband. Prayers for the family! I remember Mike from high school and what a sweet guy he was. It doesn't surprise me that he went into law enforcement to serve and protect others. I'm so sorry for your loss. Prayers are with you and your family. Thank you for his service.

A few months ago, I signed up to volunteer in the children's ministries at Watermark church. While I never got the opportunity to stop and speak with officer Smith, I do remember always looking for him. Anytime I saw him he was engaging someone in conversation, holding a child, waving etc. and I always thought to myself, "what a kind man". I was able to at least lock eyes and exchange smiles with him however. He had a very sincere and warm smile. My prayers to all who knew him and prayers for comfort and strength to his family. I work at a youth treatment facility in Dallas and Sgt. Smith responded to calls several times when we needed assistance. He was always kind and patient with the kids.
