Shane Gold's Obituary
We are sad to announce the passing of Shane Gold, 59, of Dallas, who died suddenly and peacefully at home. Shane is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Charlene Schenker, and his daughter, Robin Morgan Schenker, of whom he was so proud.
Shane was predeceased by his mother, Lois Morgan Harris Gold Brown, and his stepfather, James Brown, both of Plano. He is survived by his father, Ed Gold, of Carrollton; half-sisters: Betty Harris Barrow (Peter); Margaret Harris Kahn (Ronald); and Joan Harris Rosiak (Michael); half-brothers: Daniel Gold and Jason Gold; stepsister: Teresa Herandez; sisters-in-law: Maliza Garza (Rene); Sara Weaverling (Richard); brother-in-law Josh Schenker (Danielle); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Shane spent early childhood years in Hollywood, CA, before settling in the
Plano/Dallas area for the remainder of his life.
In an informal gathering before the cremation for those who could attend, family members joyfully
remembered Shane in the following ways:
Shane excelled at and was passionate about drapery installations, his career of 40+ years. Fortunately, he was fearless of heights! He wanted every installation job to be done right and he took pride in showing out-of-towners the area hotels that housed his drapery jobs.
He had a rascally sense of humor, always had a dad joke ready, loved Dr. Pepper, and he carried so many keys that their jangling pre-announced him.
He loved tools, and trucks, and his silver 2007 Subaru Outback Legacy held a special place in his heart.
He was physically strong, even after beating stage 4 cancer, and had a robust personality; he could fix anything and loved to joke with his nieces and nephews about anything and everything.
Friends and family are invited to a public memorial for Shane Gold on Monday, October 9, at 10 a.m., at
Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX, 75243. In lieu of flowers, please consider a
donation to the GoFundMe account titled “Financial assistance for Robin & Charlene Schenker.”
