Shannon Larue Jackson's Obituary
Shannon Larue Jackson, born October 15, 1968, transitioned from this Earth suddenly on May 19, 2019.A 1986 graduate of Lloyd V. Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas, Shannon went on to study at both Prairie View A & M University and the University of North Texas. Before being sidelined by his health, Shannon spent a number of years in Elementary Education, working with students with disabilities, and even being recognized for his outstanding performance by the PTA.Shannon enjoyed life to the fullest! Whether it be attending a Frankie Beverly & Maze Concert, a PV or UNT homecoming game, attending the annual “Gift of Christmas” production at Prestonwood Baptist Church, or throwing his annual Juneteenth party at the lake house, Shannon didn’t miss many opportunities to have a good time! He loved music, especially “ole school R&B”, and he had a “green thumb” which could be seen through his gift of landscaping. His greatest pastime, however, was his love of world travel. Having traveled to over 50 countries, often sharing his experiences with friends and family through pictures on Facebook, Shannon lived as many only dreamed of! Having recently returned just 2 weeks ago from traveling to Japan, Shannon’s vacations took him to places like Ireland, Norway, Scotland, Costa Rica, and England. Of all the countries he visited, his favorite trip was to South Africa in early 2018, which included a 2 1/2 day safari. Earlier this year, Shannon was featured in the National UK magazine, Kidney Matters, where his picture graced the front cover followed by a 2 page story, where he was quoted saying, “don’t let kidney dialysis control your life”, which he never did!Shannon loved his friends and family, and our memories of his life will be forever etched in our hearts. Shannon is survived by siblings Tony Perry & Joey Perry (Brandi); Anthony Goodson; Steven Jones Perry; Keonia Kinney (Seddrick); Breion Perry and Sevetra Easter; Father, Oliver Perry; Step-father, David Kemp; He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, beloved aunts, uncles and cousins; Best friends Angie Ransome-Jones and Linda Black; his four legged rescue dog Asia, and last but not least, his most cherished friend and confidant, Richard DeSoto.He was proceeded in death by his beloved mother, Leavetta Ann Jackson-Kemp, who he missed dearly and is now spending eternity with!Services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Hamilton Park United Methodist Church, 11881 Schroeder Road, Dallas, Tx 75243. Visitation from 10 AM-11 AM, funeral beginning at 11 AM.
