Sharon Lynn Glass-Brown's Obituary
Sharon Glass-Brown was born September 14, 1954 in Harrisburg, PA to the late William T. Glass and the late Peggy M. Glass. Sharon was the youngest daughter of “Tee” and Peggy, growing up in Harrisburg along with her older sister, Anita. Sharon attended Harrisburg High school; voted captain of the varsity cheerleading team, four consecutive years. After completing high school, Sharon attended the University of Pittsburgh and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociolgy and Psychology along with a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. While attending Pitt, Sharon met her future husband Art Brown. After graduating from Pitt, Sharon earned a second Master’s Degree in Education, from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. After marriage in 1980, Sharon and Art moved to Texas in 1983, where they lived and raised their two children, Arthur and Amanda. She began working at Texas Instruments where she spent over 25 years working, traveling to five of the seven contients, and continuously moving up the corporate ladder to ultimately, retire as a manager in the Logistics Department. After retiring, Sharon continued to enjoy traveling and decided to begin working for Garland Independent School District where she worked for 5 years and made an impact on many colleagues and students. Throughout her life Sharon was constantly whipping up her favorite recipes, hosting family functions, getting together with friends, doing charity work, donating to the community, and giving whenever and whatever she could to help others. Sharon enjoyed spending time with family, especially her precious grandchildren. Sharon became a member of the Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church on October 14, 2001 and accepted Jesus as her Lord and savior. Sharon took pleasure in having regular Women’s Bible Study meetings in her home, and was a devoted member of the Lyons Shepard Group. On August 11, 2016, Sharon left us to be with the Lord. Those left to cherish her fond memories and legacy are, her husband of 36 years, Art Brown Jr., her son, Arthur A.(Kristen) Brown III, daughter, Amanda M. Brown, her sister, Anita M. Glass, her neice, Stacia Glass and her grandchildren, Kyahria, Karter, Kenleigh, and Karsyn, along with a host of other family members and friends. Family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Restland Funeral Home. A celebration of Sharon’s life will be at 11:00am on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church in Garland. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
