Sharon Irene Vaughn's Obituary
Sharon Vaughn was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt & friend. She was born on May 22, 1948, in Denton, TX, and died on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, from a brief battle with cancer with her family at her side. Sharon is survived by her husband of 36 years Terry Vaughn of Allen; daughters Mary Vaughn Gates of Dallas, Stephanie Vaughn of Oregon, & Leslie Vaughn of Dallas. She is also survived by her sister Charlotte Scroggs and husband Jack of Denton, brother-in-law Ronald Vaughn and wife Dorothy of Florida. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews with whom she had special relationships. They are nephew Robert Scroggs and his wife Katherine and son Houston Chapman of Grand Prairie, niece Shelly Scroggs Plante and her husband Bryan and daughter Genevieve of Austin, niece Sara White of Houston, nephew Shawn White and his wife Rachael and son Silas of Denton, nephew Ed Vaughn and his wife Juliette and sons Coulson & Corey, and nephew Lance Vaughn and his son Jesse. She is also survived by her wonderful cousins Roy Bradford and his wife Annell of Lewisville and Bill Bradford and his wife Clair of Lewisville, and many more cousins and friends who were like members of her family. She is preceded in death by her parents Walter & Bertha Imogene Porter, her beloved great nephew Nicholas Scroggs who was like a grandson to her, her sister-in-law Susan Vaughn White whom she loved dearly, her brother Noble Sherman Purser, and her mother-in-law & father-in-law Ralph & Mary Vaughn for whom she was the caregiver for many years. Sharon was a wonderful person who was thought of as a second mother to many of her daughters’ friends. She also was a wonderful counselor to many family members and friends. Though she had many jobs, Sharon had a special gift working with small children. She really enjoyed helping children grow from infancy through their early childhood years. She always put the needs of her family and friends above her own. She was a devoted practitioner of the teaching of Jesus. She was loved very much by every one whose life she touched and she will be missed dearly. Her Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday, November 7th at 3pm at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue in Dallas. A reception will follow at Leslie and Mary’s apartment club house at 4200 Horizon North Parkway, Dallas, TX, 75287. The family is asking that you wear red to the service. The family also asks that, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society in her name.
