Shawn Eric Ray's Obituary
RAY, SHAWN ERIC was born in Evansville, Indiana on December 6, 1969, and passed away unexpectedly on February 18, 2013. Shawn was raised in Orlando and moved to Dallas in 1987. His great love of soccer began at Inwood Soccer Center where he became manager. In 1993 he became a Professional soccer player for the Dallas Sidekicks. While at the Sidekicks he was the goalie for two National Championships. Later he played for two additional Professional soccer teams. He returned to the Sidekicks to finish out his career in 1999. He began a career in the mortgage industry soon after. He met his beloved wife, Laura in 1993 and they were married nine years later. They were blessed with two beautiful children. He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Ray. Shawn is survived by his devoted wife, Laura Ray, his son, Saxton and daughter, Milan; mother, Dawn Hanna. His older brother, Randall Ray and his wife, Maria of Orlando, FL; sister, Wendy and her husband, Rock Reed of Savannah, GA; brother, David Harrison of Orlando, FL; nieces, Skyler Reed Frazier, Lexie Reed and Sabrina Ray. We will share memories of his life that will always be close to our heart at a visitation on Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. A celebration of Shawn’s life will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Restland Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital of Dallas.
