Sheila Cody's Obituary
Sheila Byrne Cody, long-time Dallas resident, passed away July 2, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Atlanta.She is preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Cody; her parents Joseph and Kathleen Byrne; her brothers John (Jack) and Maurice Byrne and her sister Carmel Field nee Byrne.She is survived by her 3 children, William (Bill) Cody (Mercedes); Kathleen (Kricket) Harrison (Bryan); Michael Cody (Lynn) and her 5 grandchildren, Cody Harrison, Katherine Harrison, Eimile Harrison, Carmen Cody and Georgia Cody; her sister Elizabeth (Betty) Burke nee Byrne and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Ireland.Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, she was the youngest of 5 children. Sheila emigrated to the United States in October 1959 as a Flight Attendant for American Airlines. She retired from AA upon her marriage but continued to work in the travel industry for nearly 20 years.While very proud of her Irish roots, Sheila was honored to get her United States citizenship in the 90’s. Her heart was always in two places, Ireland and Texas.After retiring, Sheila was active in many clubs including the Kiwi’s, the Dallas Irish American Society, Fleur de Lis, The International Society and Dallas 200 Club. She loved to host parties and was known for her famous Irish Coffees.Her Celebration of Life will be held Friday, July 12, 2019 at 2:30pm in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
