Shelby Howard Williams, Jr. was born on July 3, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri and passed away on April 11, 2016 in Richardson, Texas. Survived by his wife, Irina Williams; his daughters, Susie Williams, Olga Kosinets, and Mariya Williams; his sons, Shelby Howard Williams III and Roma Ovchinikov; and his grandchildren, Valery Williams, Olivia Williams, and Anya Ovchinikova. Truly good men are in short supply these days. Shelby Williams was such a man. He was a simple, humble man, possessed of infinite patience, boundless love for his family, and unfailingly kind to everyone he met, he embodied all the qualities he believed God sought in his children and reverently studied God’s word. He was a devoted husband and proud father and grandfather. He was a man of many talents, a consummate do-it-yourselfer and a skilled mechanic. Beyond all these, he was a brilliant man, working for decades to unravel the mysteries of nuclear physics, and making a tremendous breakthrough before he passed, a legacy which he leaves to the world. Shelby had a profound influence on his family and served as an example which we will be hard-pressed to live up to. May we find comfort in his memory and in the deep love which we shared, and rejoice in a life lived well and fully, which truly made the world a better place. Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 6- 8 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 12 PM at The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to National Emphysema Foundation.
