Shella Groom Felhaber's Obituary
Shella Groom (Felhaber) age 96 passed away quietly in her home on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. She was born to Harold and Fern Felhaber on October 27, 1929, in Pierre, South Dakota Shella leaves her loved ones with unforgettable memories and love filled hearts. She will be greatly missed by her loving family, wonderful friends and all those who knew her.
Shella grew up mostly in South Dakota, but her family was quite nomatic during the 1930's as they traveled to Oregon and finally to in Moville, Iowa. She graduated from Moville High School and attended a teaching school to become a teacher. She taught elementary children for a couple of years before moving back to Moville to help with the family newspaper. While in Moville, she started dating Lowell (Bud) Groom. In August of 1954, they were married in Moville. Bud and Shella were married for 67 years before he passed in 2022.
Shella and Bud started a family (7 children, 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren) and bounced from Iowa, to New Mexico, to Ohio and finally ended up in Richardson, Texas. Although Shella had many jobs throughout the years, she always felt the greatest part of her career was getting to take care of her kids and grandkids.
Shella was a member of St Luke's Lutheran Church in Richardson, Texas for 60 years. Her faith in the Lord was complete, and her memorial service will be held on
February 7, 2026, at 1:00pm in the sanctuary at St Luke's Lutheran Church in Richardson. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
