Sherry L. Barber's Obituary
Sherry Lynn Barber, of Garland, TX, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026. She left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was born September 15, 1952 in Biloxi, MS at Kessler Air Force Base to her loving parents Mary Magdalene and Clinton Lonnie Humphries. Sherry was a woman who embraced life fully and lived it with warmth, humor, and compassion. She was known for her vibrant spirit and was a friend to all who knew her. Throughout her life she wore many hats (literally and figuratively). As a mother she volunteered as a room parent, a Girl Scout leader, and a Sunday School teacher. Her door was always open to anyone in need. She became a pediatric medical assistant where she made children laugh during shots with her colorful outfits, accessories, and a jovial personality to match. Later in life she became a beloved Nanna, then a member of the Red Hatters, and was an active member at the Garland Senior Center. Above all, Sherry treasured her family.
She is survived by her brother, Michael Humphries of Burleson, TX; her loving daughters, Patricia DeBord of Garland, TX, and Rebecca Roch of Plano, TX. Her greatest pride and joy were her “tribe” of grandchildren: Aydan Loftis; Clinton and Carson DeBord; Emma and Mary Kohler; and Lily Dillon. She was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Jace McDade. Sherry’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and devotion to those she held dear. She will be fondly remembered for her generous heart, her laughter, and the many lives she touched along her journey.
A celebration of life will be announced by the family at a later date. Sherry’s remains will be placed at the VA Cemetery alongside David Roch and with her parents, Clinton and Mary Humphries, where they will all rest together in peace. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Proverbs 31:31 Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
