Sherry Louise Thompson Black Gambrell's Obituary
Sherry Louise was born to parents Roy and Jeroline Thompson on June 16, 1944 in Mexia, Texas. Former member of the Greater St. John P. Baptist Church, under the leadership of Elder F.L. Livingston and in her later years she moved her membership to Lifeway Church under the leadership of Dr. Karen Hollie. Predeceased by her parents Roy Thompson, Jeroline Fisher Thompson, sister Gloria, her husband Fred Gambrell, and her daughter, Adrienne Black Evans. Sherry was a beloved Mother to James Myron Black of Dallas, Texas, stepmother to Lois Gambrell Albert, Mary Gambrell Dearman, Jr. (Elmer) of Houston, Texas and Granny to Otis of Dallas, Texas, Karen, Briggette, Elmer Jr., Eric and Edwin of Houston, Texas. She was a devoted and loving aunt to Dr. Carla Sizer (Larry) of San Antonio, Texas, and Stephen Thomas (Katrina) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She also leaves to mourn her passing her sister-in-law/sister friend of 54 years, Cynthia Black Thomas of Colorado Springs, Colorado, her Godson, the Reverend Kevin Calhoun of Atlanta, Georgia and a host of grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. She received her formal education in Dallas, Texas and was a proud alumnus of Booker T. Washington High School and attended Dallas Baptist University. She retired from SWB/AT&T after 30 years of service, and had continued with her Mary Kay Independent Business as a beauty consultant until a decline in her health in recent years.
