Sherryl Ann Wesson's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our dear Sherryl who was widely respected in the real estate industry and beyond.
Sherryl Ann Short Wesson was born March 19, 1946 to Frank P. and Cassie Denson Short in Winnsboro, Louisiana. She passed away on September 23, 2020.
Sherryl was a graduate of Winnsboro High School, Northwestern State College in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and Baylor College of Dentistry (Caruth School of Dental Hygiene) in Dallas. She received her Master’s Degree from North Texas State University in Denton.
She began her career as a Dental Hygienist, but later switched to a career in Real Estate. She was with Artha Garza Realtors, Henry S. Miller Realtors, and, the last 19 years of her career, with Ebby Halliday Realtors as a Sales Manager until she retired in October of 2015.
Sherryl was a member of the Metrotex Association of Realtors, The Texas Association of Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors, serving on the Board of Directors for each of those Associations. She was the first President of the Metrotex Association in 2005, after helping with a successful merger of the Greater Dallas Association of Realtors and two other local Realtor Associations. She was selected as Realtor of the year for the Association, the Easterwood Award, in 2006. She was honored by the National Association by being inducted into the Omega Tau Rau Fraternity for outstanding work in the Real Estate Industry.
A fierce advocate for her East Dallas neighborhoods, Sherryl served as the Chairman of the Board of the Greater East Dallas Chamber in 1996. She also served as President of the Public Affairs Luncheon Club.
Sherryl is preceded in death by her parents, brother Frank Short, Jr., and sisters, Nan Williams and Betty Short. She is survived by her beloved husband of 39 years, Lawrence “Larry” Wesson, sister-in-law Nancy Wesson of Greenville, TX, brothers-in-law Dale Wesson and wife, Pam, of Rowlett, TX and Virgil Horn of Garland, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 3, from 2-4pm. Temperature checks will be required, as well as masks.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, October 4. DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS, FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE LIMITED TO INVITATION ONLY, AND LIVE-STREAMED. More details to follow.

All are welcome to attend the interment immediately following, Sunday, October 4, in the Court of Good Shephard at 3:00pm.
