Shirley Gayle Bice's Obituary
Shirley Gayle Brown was born in Three Rivers, Texas on October 1, 1934. Shirley graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1952 and then attended the University of Texas until 1955 when she left early to get married to Robert Jackson Bice (“Bob”) before he started his adventure in the Coast Guard. Shirley and Bob were married just shy of 60 years when Bob passed in 2015. Shirley is survived by her son, Sheldon and his wife Diane and daughter McKenzie of Colorado Springs, Colorado and his daughter Suzanne Smart and her husband David and their sons Jackson and Coleton of Frisco, Texas.
Shirley loved her family and was dedicated to what was best for the family. The small-town Texas girl turned into a woman who moved every 3-4 years until Bob’s retirement. Bob’s career took the family throughout the world, including Florida, Kuwait, Louisiana, Alaska, Texas, Colorado and California. During this time Shirley adapted to whatever environment they were in and enjoyed what that location had to offer and made close friends wherever they were. Shirley loved to read, study the Bible, play tennis, spend time with friends and could often be found shuttling Sheldon and Suzanne to hockey, gymnastics, and many other things. After Bob retired, they settled in Dallas and became fans of travel tours and finally being grandparents! Shirley was and is loved by many and remembered for her kind and generous spirit, her desire to help others and welcome them into her life. In lieu of flowers family request donations be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 27, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at Gateway Church. Frisco located at 7215 Legacy Drive, Frisco, TX 75034.
