Shirley M. Butler's Obituary
Shirley June Marshall Butler, born on May 12, 1940, in Amarillo, Texas, passed away after a short but devastating illness in the early morning hours of Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Sunnyvale, TX. Shirley touched the lives of everyone she met with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
A cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Shirley found beauty in every corner of life and had a gift for turning simple moments into unforgettable memories. Her love, laughter, and compassionate soul will remain forever in the hearts of her family, friends, and all whose lives she enriched.
Shirley is preceded in death by her father and mother, Lloyd Alvin and Donaleta Cleotha Marshall of Amarillo, TX; her two brothers, Gary and Ronnie Marshall of Amarillo, TX; her sister, Donna “Peaches” King of Fort Smith, AR; her beloved husband of 45 years, Garland Don Butler of Richardson, TX; and her two eldest sons, Kevin Lloyd Butler of McKinney, TX, and Kerry Don Butler of Austin, TX.
Shirley is survived by her younger brother, Johnny Lee Marshall of Amarillo, TX, and her baby sister, Suzanne Marshall Brantley of Amarillo, TX. She is also survived by her three sons: Kelly Brooks Butler and wife Gail of Hot Springs Village, AR; Kory Thomas Butler and wife Mirna of Mesquite, TX; and Kacy Lee Butler and wife April of Lindale, TX. Shirley is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Kerri Dee Butler of Austin, TX.
Shirley had eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family members who loved and adored her.
As we celebrate Shirley’s incredible journey, we honor the legacy of love and kindness she leaves behind. She will be sincerely missed by her family, dear friends, and all whose lives she touched.
May her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her loss, and may she rest in eternal peace.
