Shirley Russell Chandler's Obituary
Shirley Marie Russell Chandler of Flower Mound, TX was born on July 7, 1935, in Clear Lake, TX to Charlie and Kate Russell, and went to Heaven on Sept. 4, 2024. She graduated from North Dallas High School in 1953, earned her Associate Degree in Language Arts in 1977 from Mountain View Community College and came close to getting her pilot's license. She married Bill Chandler on Oct. 30, 1954, in Dallas, TX. "Saint Shirley" loved to care for people, especially her family and close friends. She also had a special touch with animals, including cats, dogs and horses, among others. She was preceded in death by Bill Chandler and her beloved sister, Doris Elliott. She is survived by her daughter, Lauren Chandler Strain and her husband, Jim; her son, Guy Chandler and his wife, Melissa; grandchildren Alan Strain, Chase Chandler and Riley Swantner; great grandchildren, Annie Chandler and Caroline Chandler. Her sacrificial care for her people helped them to grow in confidence while feeling safe in her care. She and her chocolate chip cookies will be deeply missed. She will be honored at Restland on Monday, Sept. 16 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Parkinson's Foundation on her behalf.
