Shirley Jean Collins-Bush's Obituary
Shirley Bush was born and reared in Dallas, where she attended Booker T. Washington High School. She was baptized and retained a membership with Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church until her husband entered the ministry with the AME Church. She served the AME church faithfully for 45 years as First Lady with her husband at various churches in their district. She was a member of the Executive Board for the North Texas district. She loved participating and volunteering at K.B. Polk Recreation Center’s Senior Program where she was awarded The Presidential Volunteer Award for her service. After the death of her beloved husband in 2006. She became a member of Perpetual Praise Community Church and was known as one of the “The Golden Girls”. Shirley married Billy Wayne Bush in 1955 and to this union five children were born. Shirley leaves to cherish in memory her son Dennis Bush (Daisy), daughter Jennifer Bush Wilder (Steven), daughter Teana Bush, son John Anthony Bush. Grandchildren: Candace Wilder, Tiffany Wilder, Kristen Bush, Danis Bush, Dallas Bush. Great-Grandchildren: Tre’Nysha Bluitt, Erika Brown, Jasmine Brown, Willie Buckley and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
