Shirley Anne Cooper Maples' Obituary
Shirley Anne Cooper Maples was born December 26, 1934, in Cleburne, TX and passed away May 7, 2017 in Covington, LA. Preceded in death by her parents, Curtis N. Cooper and Autye P. Cooper, and by her beloved husband of 61 years, Charles Albert Maples. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Maples Craig and spouse Glenn Craig of Mandeville, LA; son, Major William Curtis Maples, USMC retired and spouse Lisa Maples of Bogata, TX; 3 grandchildren, Dr. Courtney Smith and spouse Josh Smith of San Antonio, TX; Caitlin Oetken and spouse Capt. Matthew Oetken, USAF, of Mary Esther, FL; and Tyler Maples of Tyler, TX; great-grandson, Nolan Charles Smith of San Antonio, TX; and a four-legged furry companion, her precious Hans. Shirley graduated from North Dallas High School and attended SMU. She was a legal secretary, an elementary school secretary and assisted her husband in his long education career. She was the ultimate mother and grandmother and there will never be a way to replace such a loving and creative person. Despite her health, she enjoyed her family, snow skiing, and 39 cruises with her family and dear friends. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the service at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Restland Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the care of Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243.
