It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Jean DeFore announces her passing. Shirley, of Mesquite, Texas, was 88 years old when she passed away quietly on September 6, 2018.Burial, with a moment of remembrance, will commence at Restland Memorial Park on September 15, 2018, at 1:00 pm. Arrangements are by Restland Memorial Park.Shirley was born in San Antonio, Texas to George Coeel and Inez Coeel on September 16, 1929. She married George DeFore on December 8th, 1973. They spent more than 40 years loving and supporting each other. They enjoyed their later years, following George’s retirement, in the countryside of Athens, Texas, raising their beloved animals.Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Duerr and Inez Duerr; sister Dorothy Smith, and her husband George Defore (April 19, 2018).She is remembered with love by her daughter, Kathy Coleman; sons Jim McGinnes and Gary Albers; step-daughter Yvonne Hyde; daughter-in-law Alice McGiness; son-in-law Larry Coleman; grandchildren Catrina Hurwitz, Dawn Brewster, and Brandi Coleman; and grandson-in-law Sam Hurwitz.Memorial Donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org)
