Debra Ereckson Arledge
Shirley’s parents house in Allen held special memories for me. It is here her daughter Rita and her siblings introduced me to the card game Flinch when they all came to visit. It was also here I first learned to ‘be still’ in the quietness of the day. Shirley and her sisters inherited all the special qualities of their mother and were beautiful gracious ladies inside and out. Shirley treasured her family and the unique abilities of each of you, and delighted in each of you completely. In her later years we connected while I was doing research on our shared family and she was always interested in newfound discoveries, sometimes I called her and other time she called me. She enjoyed receiving the clippings from the local paper and magazine on stories of interest about our family I passed along to her. My only regret is that the book I am writing on our family was not published before the death of my own mother and Shirley. Please know that others are thinking of you and sending prayers, and may He hold you close in the days ahead.
