Shirley Avon Grinstead's Obituary
Shirley Avon Grinstead was born on May 29, 1935, to John and Nell Dawson in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. She passed away on April 22, 2024, at the age of 88, in Garland, Texas. She married Edwin Grinstead on August 31, 1951.
The love of her life, Edwin Grinstead, preceded her in death in 2015. She is also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Thelma "Ted" Carter; sister, Marie Nickelson; and brother, Floyd “Patty Boy” Dawson.
She is survived by her children, Gary Grinstead and wife, Debbie; John Grinstead and husband, JJ; Karen Grinstead Isaacs and husband, Eugene; and Glenda Grinstead Adams; grandchildren, Steven Grinstead and wife Jessica, Billy Grinstead and wife, Jennifer; Bobby Grinstead and wife, Allyson; John Adam Grinstead and wife, Samantha; Josette Isaacs Madden, Tiffani Isaacs Irwin, and Angelique Adams Woods and husband, Josh; great grandchildren, Chloe, Caitlyn, Brooke, Skyllar, Christian, Corbin, Dillon, Lexi, Trystan, Hannah, Madeline, Jacob, Sydney, Aidan, Raynie, Paiton, Keith, Siena, Joelea, Kaylee, Ella, and Landon; great-great-grandchildren, Kian, Ares, and Parker; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Shirley was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and loved to sewing, going fishing with Edwin, dancing and reading.
Pallbearers will be Steven, Billy, Bobby, Dillon, Corbin, Aidan, Kian, Christian and Landon.
