Shirley Jeanne Cox's Obituary
Shirley Jeanne Cox died peacefully at the Silverado Health Care Facility on March 12, 2015 in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 91. Shirley was born on June 20, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio to Emil and Julia Spreitzer. She married Robert William Cox in 1946 and became a long time resident of Dallas, Texas. Robert preceded Shirley in death in 1990. Later in life, Shirley moved to Wichita Falls, Texas. Shirley was a devout Christian, loving mother and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dallas. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, playing bridge, visiting with family and friends, eating her sweets and chocolate, and was a friend to all living things. Shirley is survived by her three children, Carol Cox of Kennebunk, Maine, Anne Cox Gavin and husband, John of Azle and John Cox of Wichita Falls. Five grandchildren being Erin Gavin Roark and husband, Dan of Dallas, Kate Gavin Bryant and husband, Brack of Dallas, Mary Gavin Stults and husband, Matt of San Antonio, Grace Gavin Davis and husband, Zach of Dallas and Jennifer Cox Kizziah and husband, Daniel of Lubbock. Ten great grandchildren being Isabelle Roark, Caroline Roark, Olivia Roark, Gavin Bryant, Janie Bryant, Lillian Bryant, Abigail Stults, Joseph Stults, Hannah Davis and Samuel Davis. Funeral Services will take place at 3:00 pm, Monday, March 16, 2015 at The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243 The family requests memorials be made to either the SPCA or to The Stewpot.
