Shirley "Big Mama" Gatson's Obituary
Shirley M. Gatson was born in Rusk County, Texas, on November 24, 1936 to the late Robert and Annie Rean Perkins-Medford.She graduated from Henderson High School and soon after was married to her husband on October 13, 1956. She went to work for Helaine Berger-Trachtenberg and remained there for over 40 years before retiring. She served in the Friendly Ladies Social Club for several years and was a faithful member of Praise Temple CFC for over 20 years as the Mother of the church and Hospitality.She was preceded in death by her parents, H.W., Tommy and G-Baby Medford her three brothers and along with her son Timothy Michael Gatson. Mother Gatson leaves to cherish in her memories, her two daughters Deborah (Curtis) McClure, Sharon Gatson, 7 Grandchildren, Cameron Gatson, Brandon (LaQuita) Pero, Candace (Jamie) Smith, Sheena Pero, Tarina (Reginald) Burns, Phylicia Gatson and Aaron (Ashley) Shannon. 11 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild and a Host of Family and Friends.Wake is at Restland Funeral Home – 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243 Friday – July 26, 2019 from – 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Memorial ChapelFuneral Service will be held at Praise Temple CFC – 10412 Elam Rd., Dallas, TX 75217 Saturday – July 27, 2019 @ 11 a.m.
