I joined the Carleton/Robinson family in 1964. Shirley welcomed me with open arms as she did everyone. Every time we got together with the family we always had a great time. She loved to entertain and had wonderful parties and family events. I loved to visit them in Dallas as she always had the most fun stores to visit. When they bought the place at Star Harbor I think she had never been so happy. It was a great place to rest and enjoy. If you ever saw her home(S) you saw her love for flowers and landscaping. John loved flowers and working in the yard also and he loved to tease her about whose was the best. As the years passed they became close. She was wonderful and I will miss her great personality and love.

You stepped into our lives as our Texas Grandmother and took your job seriously. Putting together my smashed pumpkin we brought to Texas for our first Halloween… Coming over Christmas Eve to help play Santa and sing Carols with us…The Christmas that Santa left some gifts at your house, eating Easter dinner on the stairs and sitting on the small stools at the small table in your living room. But most importantly… having to run nextdoor to get your glasses you ALWAYS forgot! You came to our weddings, baptisms, Holy Communion and Confirmation parties. These are the memories that will stay with me. I will miss you terribly and am so Thankful that you so willingly stepped into this role while our Grandparents lived so far away!
