Shirley Jean Taylor Shirejian Miles' Obituary
SHIRLEY JEAN TAYLOR SHIREJIAN MILES 88, living in Dallas, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2013. She was born in Burleson, Texas on May 6, 1925. She was the daughter of Charles C. Taylor and Tollie Chisenhall Taylor. Shirley is survived by her loving sister, Mrs. Genevieve Taylor Harris of Dallas; son, George Michael Shirejian (Linda) of Dallas; and daughter, Jeanne Shirejian Andelman (Steve) of Dallas; three grandchildren, G. Daven Shirejian of Florida; Tollie J. Butz of Dallas; and Jacob Shirejian of Austin; two step grandsons, Bennett of Philadelphia; and Jeffrey Andelman of Maryland; great-grand children, Sade and Jacob Shirejian and step great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Ari Andelman; and Michael, Harrison and Logan. Shirley descended from pioneer families who moved to Texas after the Civil War. Her family lived in Burleson and was very well respected. She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Winston, Jack, and CC and sister, Melba Warren. She was married to George Shirejian in 1945 until his death in 1967. She and George raised their family in Ft. Worth. She married Robert E. Miles several years afterwards in Ft. Worth, Texas and after retirement they moved to their Ranch, The Rockin’ M” in Glen Rose, Texas. She and Robert enjoyed deer hunting on their land and Shirley enjoyed fishing and swimming and playing golf. She loved to be with her family and enjoyed all the large family reunions, watching the generations grow to 92 nieces, nephews and cousins. There were always large gatherings at the Miles Ranch including annual Chile Cook-off. Shirley was a loving mother and grandmother, a wonderful cook and loved music and dancing. She was an active member of the Women’s Golf League of Granbury, Texas. We will never forget the love and the compassion that she showed the family and her many friends. We will never forget Shirley! A memorial service for Shirley will be held on Friday, August 2, 2013 in the Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
