The couple raised four children, Chuck, Jim, Sue, and Teri, in Dallas, before later moving to El Paso, Texas. Shirley was a stay-at-home mom, while also providing office management support to John’s growing medical practice. While in El Paso, Shirley obtained her real estate agent license, working in the local housing market for several years. She was an active supporter of several local and national political campaigns over the course of her life. Shirley retired with John to Rockwall, Texas in 2003, spending their retirement years traveling to numerous Texas communities supporting prison healthcare delivery. Shirley was widowed in 2016 when John passed away while living in Rockwall, Texas. Since 2021, Shirley lived at CC Young Assisted Living Center, passing away in her sleep on June 23, 2023.
