Shirley Miller Watson's Obituary
Shirley Miller Watson was raised to a life eternal on Sept 2, 2021. She was born In Lima, Ohio on May 9, 1934, to Isabel and Elliott Miller. Shirley was a graduate of Miami Valley Hospital Nursing School in Dayton, Ohio. Shirley was working in Dayton as a Registered Nurse when she met a young Air Force officer, Dan Watson. They were married in 1956 and moved to the Dallas area where they had two sons, Mark and Jim. Dan and Shirley lived, worked, and raised their family in Richardson, TX from 1965 to the present. Shirley began her nursing career in Dallas at Methodist Hospital. She was affectionately known around the neighborhood as "Doc Watson" as she treated and advised all the needy. Shirley had a quiet gentle way about her which soothed her patients. She retired from nursing in 1994 after working for 20 years at Plano General Hospital. Shirley was affectionately known as "Gramoo" to her grandchildren. She was ice cream for them! We will always remember her working a puzzle or sitting on the front porch watching the great grandchildren play. Shirley was a proud "Lady of the Lake" with all her close friends. She was important to us all. Shirley was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and is survived by her children Mark (partner Milaca) and Jim(wife Kim), her grandchildren Ashley (husband Adam), Mat (wife Jordan), Kathryn (husband Patrick), and great grandchildren Brooks, Tripp, Charlee, Kate, and Ford. She is preceded in death by her husband Dan, brother Jim, and sister Phyllis. A memorial service will be held for Shirley and Dan Watson at 11 AM on September 24, 2021 at Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church.
