Shirley Mae Young's Obituary
82, passed away May 14, 2008 in Plainview, TX. Services will be held Monday at 1:00pm at Restland in Dallas with visitation at 12:30. Shirley was born August 9, 1925 in Shenandoah, IA to Jack and Fairrell Funk. She married Thomas Wood Young of Red Oak, IA in May of 1952 and moved to Dallas in 1957. Her time was spent raising a family, volunteering, then working as a secretary. Her church home was First Community Church of Dallas. In 1992, she returned to Shenandoah and joined the First Presbyterian Church, hospital Auxiliary, meals on wheels and the music association. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Robert and Jack Funk, and her husband Tom. She is survived by two children, Jeff Young and wife Diane, Melissa Wofford and husband Shaw, grandchildren Thomas and Scott Young, Jay and Whitney Wofford and Christine Alsbrooks, siblings, Phyllis, Ivan and Rex Funk and Patsy Gilliam. Family suggests memorials to First Presbyterian Church, 200 W. Clarinda Ave. Shenandoah, IA 51601.
