Sir Christopher Cletus Essien, 73, of Garland, Texas passed away on February 1, 2021 in Wylie, Texas. He was born on July 9, 1947 to Chief Peter Essien Umoette and Madam Mary Ebong Essien in Ifuho, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. He married Juliana Anthony Ukwo in Ifuho, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. He was an English Professor in Wichita, Kansas, as well as Garland and Richardson Independent School Districts in Texas. He taught at several schools both here and abroad. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Nto Annang Foundation, Nigerian Catholic Ministries, OSC, Catholic Men's Organization, Legion of Mary and Onyeaghala Nwanneya Social Club. He is survived by his wife, Lady Juliana Christopher Essien; daughter, Esther Christopher Essien of Aubrey, Texas, Jacintha Edima Martinez of North Richland Hills, Texas, Emilia Inemesit Jasper of Nevada, Texas, and Irene Udeme Essien of Garland, Texas; sister, Mrs. Theresa Ukpong; and brother, Rev. Father Sylvester Essien Umoette.
