Sokhean Nhem, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on May 5, 1946, in Kampong Chhnang, Cambodia, Sokhean lived a life full of love, dedication, and grace.
A proud Cambodian woman, Sokhean found joy in the simple yet profound pleasures of life. She was a gifted cook, known for her mastery of traditional Khmer dishes that brought warmth and comfort to all who gathered at her table. Her hands were rarely still—whether she was sewing clothes, decorating her home with care, or crafting beautiful handmade items, Sokhean poured her heart into everything she did.
Her green thumb was legendary. Sokhean cultivated her own rice, fruits, and vegetables, which she lovingly used in her cooking. Her garden was not only a source of nourishment but also a reflection of her patience, diligence, and deep connection to the earth.
A devout Buddhist, Sokhean was a dedicated member of the Cambodia Buddhist Society of North Dallas (Wat Preah Koe Morokot), where she regularly attended Dharma chanting and found spiritual peace and community.
Above all, Sokhean was an exceptional housewife and mother. She devoted her life to raising her children with unwavering love, strength, and wisdom. Her legacy lives on through her children: Pharith Von (Cambodia), Phoura Vong (Fresno, California), Reamnan Vong (Kaufman, Texas), and Rumnear Vong (Brownwood, Texas); and her sister, Sorpha Nhem (Cambodia).
A funeral service to honor Sokhean’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Restland Funeral Home's Memorial Chapel in Dallas, Texas.
Sokhean’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and the beauty of tradition. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
ជីវប្រវត្តិសង្ខេប ឧបាសិកា ញ៉ែម សោឃាន កើតនៅឆ្នាំ១៩៤៦ ក្នុងខេត្តកំពង់ឆ្នាំង ប្រទេសកម្ពុជា មានលោកឪពុកឈ្មោះញ៉ែម មុំ ជាលោកអាចារ្យ និងអ្នកម្តាយឈ្មោះស៊ិន វឌ្ឌី ជាកសិករ ។ មានបងប្អូនបង្កើត៩នាក់ នៅរស់ ២នាក់គឺ អ្នកស្រី ញ៉ែម សោផូ និង អ្នក ស្រី ញ៉ែម ស៊ីឆន(រស់នៅប្រទេសកម្ពុជា)។ នៅកុមារភាព ដល់ពេញវ័យ បានចូលសិក្សា រៀនសូត្រដូចកុមារ ឯទៀតៗ ក្នុងភូមិស្រុកដែរ រហូតបានបញ្ចប់ថ្នាក់ភូមិសិក្សា។ នៅឆ្នាំ១៩៦៣ឪពុកម្តាយរៀបចំឲ្យមានគូរស្រករ រៀបអាពាហ៍ពិពាហ៍ជាមួយនឹងលោក វង្ស ផយ ជាគ្រូបង្រៀន។ ជាចំណងដៃអាពាហ៍ពីពាហ៍ អ្នកស្រីញ៉ែម សោឃាន នឹងស្វាមី មានបុត្រាបុត្រីចំនួន ៨នាក់ គឺ៖ ១‑លោកវង្ស ផារិត ២‑អ្នកស្រី វង្ស ផារី ៣‑លោកវង្ស សុខារត្ន័ (ស្លាប់) ៤‑លោក វង្ស សៅភូស័ក (រស់នៅប្រទេសកម្ពុជា) ៥‑លោក វង្ស ភូរ៉ា ៦‑អ្នកស្រី វង្ស ភិរម្យ ៧‑លោក វង្ស រាមនន្ត ៨‑លោក វង្ស រមនា ( រស់នៅសហរដ្ឋអាមេរិក) អ្នកស្រីញ៉ែម សោឃាន ជាស្ត្រីមេផ្ទះមួយរូប ដ៏ប៉ិនប្រសព្វគ្រប់កិច្ចការងារផ្ទះ ចិញ្ចឹមបីបាច់ថែរក្សា ទំនុកបម្រុងការសិក្សា អប់រំទូន្មានដល់កូនៗដើម្បីឱ្យកូនមានសមត្ថភាពនិងជាមនុស្សល្អក្នុងសង្គម។ ទំនេរពីការងារផ្ទះ អ្នកម្តាយ ឆ្លៀតពេលកាត់ដេរសម្លៀកបំពាក់ឱ្យកូនៗដើម្បីកាត់បន្ថយចំណាយ ក្នុងគ្រួសារ និងធ្វើស្រែ ដាំដុះបន្លែ ឈើហូបផ្លែ ជុំវិញផ្ទះ យកទៅលក់ដូរខ្លះដើម្បីបានចំណូលបំពេញបន្ថែម លើប្រាក់បៀវត្សរ៍ស្វាមី ។ មិនត្រឹមតែប៉ុណ្ណោះ អ្នកស្រីញ៉ែម សោឃាន និងស្វាមីក៏ជាពុទ្ធសាសនិក ជារឿយៗតែងតែបរិច្ចាគទាន កសាងវត្តអារាម ឧបត្ថមព្រះសង្ឃ ស្វាធ្យាយព្រះធម៌ រក្សានិច្ចសីល មានព្រះរតនត្រៃជាទីពឹង ទីរឭក តរៀងរហូតមក។ នៅឆ្នាំ ២០០៤ និងឆ្នាំ ២០០៨ ឧបាសិកាញ៉ែម សោឃាន និងស្វាមី បានទិដ្ឋាការមករស់នៅ សហរដ្ឋអាមេរិក ក្រោមការទំនុកបម្រុង ពីអ្នកស្រី វង្ស ភិរម្យ និង ស្វាមី ដែលត្រូវជាកូន និងកូនប្រសា។ មកដល់ឆ្នាំ២០១៧ ស្វាមីជាទីស្រលាញ់បាន ចែកឋាន ទុកឱ្យឧបាសិកា ញ៉ែម សោឃាន ក្លាយជាស្រ្តីមេម៉ាយ ចាប់ពីពេលនោះមក។ ឆ្នាំបន្តបន្ទាប់មក មិនខុសពីស្វាមីនោះទេ ឧបាសិកា ញ៉ែម សោឃាន ត្រូវបាន ជរា ព្យាធិ យាយី ឥតស្រាកស្រាន្ត ទោះជាគ្រូពេទ្យព្យាបាល ច្រើនលើកច្រើនសារ និងមើលថែយ៉ាងយកចិត្តទុកដាក់ពីសំណាក់កូន ចៅ ក៏ដោយ មរណាសន្នកាល ក៏បានមកដល់ ឧបាសិកា ញ៉ែម សោឃាន ទទួលមរណភាព លាបងលាប្អូនលាកូនលាចៅ លាចាកលោក យើងនេះ ទៅកាន់លោកខាងមុខ ដោយសុខស្ងប់ កាលពីថ្ងៃអង្គារ ១កើត ខែជេស្ឋ ឆ្នាំម្សាញ់ សប្តស័ក ព.ស ២៥៦៩ ត្រូវនឹងថ្ងៃទី២៧ ខែឧសភា ឆ្នាំ២០២៥ ក្នុងជន្មាយុ ៧៩ ឆ្នាំ នៅទីក្រុង Kaufman Texas.
