Som Detsouriphonh, born on April 3, 1940, in Sophoun, Laos, to Thitkana Novanh and Chansouk Soukhanya, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, at the age of 84.
In 1982, Som and her beloved husband, John Hawaii, made the courageous decision to move to America, where they settled in Dallas, Texas. Married in 1963, Som and John shared a beautiful life together, filled with love and dedication.
Som was a fantastic mother and a devoted caretaker. Her deep commitment to her family was evident in everything she did. A devout Buddhist, she found joy and peace in her faith. Som had a passion for shopping, especially for gold jewelry, and she took great pride in her appearance, always ensuring her hair and nails were perfectly done for visits with friends and family.
Known for her blunt honesty, dedication, and big heart, Som was a pillar of strength and wisdom for those around her. She loved sharing her knowledge and instructions with her loved ones, always eager to help and guide them.
Som's legacy of love, care, and devotion will forever be cherished by her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Buddhist Funeral Services will be held in honor of Som's life at 9:30 AM on Sunday, March 9th, 2025 at Restland Funeral Home's Memorial Chapel, with a witness cremation to following services.
