Sonia C. Gary's Obituary
Sonia C. Gary was born May 23, 1929 in Dallas, Texas and passed away February 23, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. She was a former owner and co-founder of Gary’s Studio. Along with her husband, Bill, she was a successful Co-founder and business woman of Gary Studios, a respected photography business serving the Dallas area for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Gary; daughter, Pat Davis, brother, Frank Allen and granddaughter, Sodi Castleberry. She is survived by Dianna and Ron Smith; Amy Jo and Kyle Archer; David and Linda Gary and Steven and Denise Gary; nine grandchildren gave her great joy: Charity Wells, Melissa Beare, Dereck Castleberry, Emily Herrick, Elizabeth Kirkland, Kate Mercer, Michael Gary, Robert Gary and William Archer. Her legacy will live on with three great grandchildren: Wesley Castleberry, Paige Herrick and Ethan Herrick. Special love was also had for Kelly, Darren and Maddie Kastor. Born to deaf parents during the depression, formed Sonia’s lifelong nurturing nature to anyone and everyone in need. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Callier Center for Communication Disorders, www.utdallas.edu. “A bushell and a peck and a hug around your neck”. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, February 27, 2017 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the Restland Wildwood Chapel. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
