Stanley Thomas Jones 's Obituary
Stanley Thomas Jones, 91, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2019, in Dallas Texas. Throughout his life there was always a twinkle in his eye, a bird whistling tune from his mouth, and a kind smile!
Born in Payson, Utah on March 27, 1928, to Samuel Thomas (Tom) and Maurine Bird Holley Hill Jones. Stan graduated from Dixie High School and Dixie College in St. George, Utah.
On May 14, 1949, he married and was sealed for eternity to the beautiful Mary Susann Webb in the St. George Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Married for 70 years, together they raised four children: Karen (Thomas E. Chandler), Douglas C. (Polly), LeeAnn (Michael P. Quinlan) and Brett T. (Linda). He is survived by his wife Mary, brothers Richard C. (Dick) Jones, Stephen A. (Steve) Jones, his children Karen, LeeAnn, and Brett. Stan began a long career with the J.C. Penney Company at the age of 16, and later entered the company’s management trainee program and progressed through a successful and honorable 44 years. His final three positions were store manager in Denver, Colorado, Abilene, Texas, and Dallas, Texas.
Stan was a handyman around the house…an electrician, a builder, and worked on his cars. He fixed and repaired numerous small and large projects throughout his life. He enjoyed bike rides, trout fishing, walks, and watching numerous sporting events and performances of his grandchildren.
Stan was a devoted, lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in bishoprics and on the High Council. He was an ordained Patriarch (emeritus) and often served as a financial clerk. He served as a Dallas Temple Ordinance worker for 31 years!
All who wish to honor and remember Stan are welcome to share a brief example or experience with his family. There will be a small family graveside service in Utah in early January 2020.
