Stella Leone Smith's Obituary
Smith, Lee Stella Leone Smith of Dallas passed peacefully on June 18, 2009. Born January 21, 1925 in Pittsburg, TX, she was preceded in death by parents Judson and Jo Merrell, siblings Janie Fleming, and Charlie and Frank Merrell, and great-grandson Grant Williams. She is survived by husband Jack; daughter Elaine Williams and husband Mike; son Mark Smith and wife Cathy, grandchildren Chris Williams and wife Ruth, Heather Williams Pitner and husband Matt, Jessie Smith Tirrell and husband Geoff, and Jonathan Smith; and five great-grandchildren: Caden, Jack, and Grace Williams, and Megan and Emma Pitner. She leaves many friends at Fowler Christian Homes and elsewhere. Her gifts of grace to others, foresight, generosity, and keen intelligence greatly served her Lord, church, friends, and family, and will be missed. She married Jack Smith in 1943 and moved to Dallas, where she worked as a secretary for First Baptist Oak Cliff, Ministers Counseling, and Dallas Baptist University. In these and other jobs and in the home she made, she was indispensable. She was a long-time member of Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas where she taught Sunday School among other service. A Memorial Service will be held at Wilshire Baptist Church, 316 Abrams Rd Dallas 75214, on Saturday June 27 at 10:00 am, Rev. George Mason presiding. As daughter, sister, wife, mother, “Nana” and friend, she was matchless, and beloved by all. “Absent from the body; present with the Lord.”
