Stella White Trevino's Obituary
Stella White Trevino was called home to the Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 9, 2025. Stella was born in Austin, Texas on July 24,1939 as the oldest child of José M. and Lydia W. Trevino. Stella lived her early life in Austin where she raised her two daughters, Maria Annette Rogers and Linda Michelle Simpson. She was a devoted administrative professional working with San José Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. During her time in Austin she was very active in the Latin Mass Community.
In her later years, God blessed her with the opportunity to move to a Catholic Hermitage outside of Hebronville, Texas. Stella’s deep faith, love of the Catholic Church and love of country life and wide-open spaces all came together for her in this beautiful place. Her life as a layperson alongside the brothers and priest were among her most joyful times in life. When her time at the hermitage came to an end, she briefly returned to Austin but ultimately relocated to Dallas, Texas. In Dallas, she filled her time helping to raise two of her grandchildren and becoming very active in a variety of ministries and organizations at St. Patrick Catholic Community.
All who knew Stella know that she was a woman of deep faith with a servant’s heart. Her family is deeply moved by the many stories that have been shared with us of how Stella developed meaningful relationships with others providing comfort, support and friendship. She touched many hearts always with the aim to point others to Jesus and the Blessed Mother.
Stella enjoyed many hobbies. From her early adulthood and throughout her life, she completed a daily crossword puzzle. She so enjoyed gardening and getting in the dirt to plant or pull weeds. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother, particularly the Sorrowful Mother. And she prayed. Prayer was always a central focus of her daily life and, in this way, she was and is an inspiration to her family.
Stella is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Henry Trevino and José Trevino Jr., her Aunt Lorraine Garza (Nanita) who was very dear to her. She is survived by her daughters, Maria Rogers and Linda Simpson, her sons-in-law Robert Rogers and Derek Sholeen and her grandchildren, Aaron Alvarado, Ashley Alvarado, Julia Sholeen and James Sholeen, brother Rudy Trevino, sister-in-law Modesta Trevino, sister and brother-in-law Betty and Carlos Cardona, numerous nephews and a niece.
“Blessed are the dead who from now on die in the Lord.” “Blessed indeed” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors for their deeds follow them!” Rev 14:13
