Stephanie Ann Cumbie's Obituary
Stephanie Ann Cumbie, age 62, of Kaufman, TX passed away unexpectedly on January 12, 2023 of the results of Achalasia. Stephanie was born on February 18, 1960 to Wayne and Wanda Cumbie of Garland, Texas. She graduated from North Garland High School in 1978 through the Special Education Program. She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, and her beloved Aunt Helen Schmidt. Stephanie is survived by her cousin and caretaker Sandra Gray and husband Stephen; Cousins Deborah Acquavella and husband Frank of Elmore City OK; Bill Schmidt and wife Bobbie of Norman OK; Michael Schmidt and wife Jan of Oklahoma City OK; David Schmidt and wife Vicki of Elmore City OK. Many second and third cousins, each of who she dearly loved. She asked daily for any news of each of her family members and enjoyed each of their accomplishments.
Stephanie enjoyed traveling with her family, all music (particularly country music), word puzzles, and fast cars. She loved all sports and enjoyed eating all foods, except liver as she was quick to emphasize. Born with disabilities, she was later diagnosed with Parkinson’s, Dementia, Tardive Dyskinesia, and lastly the fatal illness of Achalasia. She encountered many difficulties, struggles, and losses during her life, but kept a positive loving attitude of her world. Her love and belief of Jesus was very strong. She prayed daily for her healing, her family, our country, and even her chickens that she enjoyed watching for hours. Stephanie watched sports daily, even if it was a rerun for a game – any game, any sport. She had her “favorite” teams and players selected and enjoyed wearing the various team shirts. Stephanie enjoyed watching the weather forecast each morning and sharing it with her family, as well as the latest political news.
Stephanie enjoyed every visitor to our home. She always wanted to know about their life and any events in their lives. Stephanie had a particularly deep love and appreciation of Michele, Mickey, and Shanna Gray, and her fourth cousin and friend Rose Gray. Visits from Cousins Debbie Acquavella and Taylor Schmidt were of particular delight for Stephanie. She took special pride in the accomplishments of each of her cousins, their children, and the birth of their grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Stephanie’s life on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas at 1:30pm with Darril Deaton, Pastor of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church, presiding.
