Stephen Jay Brittell's Obituary
Stephen Jay Brittell departed this life on November 4, 2020 at the age of 78.
Steve is survived by his wife, Carrol Vanderslice Brittell; sister Shirley Marek; sons Jody Brittell, and wife Vanessa, Scott Brittell, and wife Anne, Mark Brittell and wife Dala; daughters Michelle Powell and Kimberly Bost, and husband Randall; bonus children Scott Rhodes and Kristen Oliver; grandchildren Colton, Clayton, Brittney and Walker; Kallie and Riley; Becky, Hunter and Landry, Jessica and Kevin; great grandchildren Griffen, Amos and Scarlet.
Steve was born on April 21, 1942 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Walter J. Brittell and Fern Breunsbach Brittell. While in school, he worked in the grocery business before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1961. He served as a MP in Yuma, AZ and in Hawaii. After discharge from the Marines, he had a varied career with a strong emphasis on farming and sales until he retired in 2003.
Stephen was a dedicated individual who supported Disabled American Veterans and an advocate for Boys Town. Animals loved him and he loved them, especially his always faithful dogs. He was passionate about the outdoors – both land and sea – enjoying boating and fishing. He was a Nebraska Cornhuskers fan and a Dallas Cowboys fan. Most of all, he dedicated his heart and soul to his beloved family and close friends.
