Stephen Wayne Hatch's Obituary
Born May 19, 1946 in Shreveport, LA to Donald & Merle Hatch, Stephen Wayne Hatch was the youngest of three boys. He enjoyed a wonderful childhood in Wichta Falls, TX. Steve attended Texas Tech University where he was an active SAE member and graduated with a degree in finance. His service in the Air Force took Steve to Cheyenne, WY where his two daughters were born. Following his service, Steve worked in the banking industry and was an active member in the Lions Club. He moved back to Texas and began his career with the Texas Workforce Commission. Being a true hometown boy, Steve returned to Wichita Falls. There he continued his volunteer work as a mentor for Big Brothers and as a high school basketball referee. A job promotion brought him back to Dallas where he reconnected with and later married long-time friend, Carol Dille. Steve loved to bring family and friends together. He had a tremendous capacity for love, humor and friendship. He always strived to leave things better than he found them whether it was a home or a relationship. Steve is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Jennifer Swanson and Regan Schultz; and his four grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Merle and his brothers, David and Neal Hatch and many other family and friends who were close to his heart. A memorial service will be held at 10am, Monday, October 27, at Restland Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Steve may be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Heifer Project Int’l. or to Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Texas.
