Stephen Kent Hennen's Obituary
HENNEN, STEPHEN KENT On April 21, 2014, at 6:05 p.m., Stephen Kent Hennen parted this life surrounded by his sons and friends after fighting a long battle against leukemia. Steve crossed over the threshold into the next life with courage knowing he would now join his cherished wife, and much loved parents, brother, and son. Steve was born on July 27, 1939, in Dallas to Blanche and Marshall Marlowe Hennen. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School where he met the love of his life Marlen Niland. Steve and Marlen married on October 22, 1960, launching a life together that combined family and business. They had four sons Chris, Vince (twin, deceased), Clint (twin), and Kyle. Those sons gave him grandchildren to spoil and brag about. He successfully operated Hennen Plumbing Contractors for 45 years in Dallas following the footsteps of his father. Steve and Marlen were active members of St. Pius X parish, a place where his plumbing talents were often utilized. Steve loved to fish, hunt, and travel. He enjoyed taking his sons and grandchildren on many of his trips. He was a dedicated husband, father, business man, and a friend to many. All who knew him will remember his thoughtfulness, his boisterous optimism, and of course his reassuring whistle. He nursed family and friends back to health, loved cooking for a crowd, and doting on a big dog named “Tank.” Everyone on the receiving end of his generosity, kind deeds, and hugs will grieve for him. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Restland Memorial Chapel with a rosary starting at 7:00 PM. Mass will be at 1:30 PM, Friday, April 25, 2014 at St. Pius Catholic Church.
