Stephen Collins Owen Jr.'s Obituary
Stephen “Steve” Collins Owen, Jr. entered his heavenly rest on December 19, 2022. Steve was born on September 22, 1977 to Laura Goodson Glasgow and Stephen Collins Owen in Dallas, Texas. He was a 1996 graduate of Highland Park High School where he played varsity baseball and was a varsity cheerleader. He attended Texas Christian University before transferring to the University of Texas, where as an avid Longhorn fan, he earned a place on the cheerleading team. Steve was a leader, a gifted speaker, a coach, a mentor, a friend, a servant, adventurous, and charismatic in every way.
Steve was passionate to his core, which shone through in his every conversation, relationship, hobby, and business endeavor. He was devoted to Jesus, as shown by his daily pursuit of a more intimate relationship with his Savior. Steve loved his family, and he loved people – always encouraging building community. He was amazing with kids and always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved encouraging others and challenging his friends and family to think big. His heart always longed for personal growth and healing, both in himself and in others.
Of all people, he was most passionate about his 20-month-old daughter, Millie. Steve was a loving, present, hands-on, and amazing father to Millie. They lit up each other’s lives and experienced joy and happiness in each other’s presence.
Steve was an avid outdoorsman, finding peace and renewed energy while being in nature. He loved all things outdoors, but especially bow hunting, saltwater fly fishing and undertaking ranch projects. He was also a talented photographer and videographer with an eye for capturing beauty. He was quick to volunteer his skills for anything his friends, family, and business partners needed.
In addition to building the real estate company Real Manors, Steve had a passion for using his business acumen to extend the Kingdom of God. He was successfully able to merge family, friendship, service, Kingdom, and his professional career throughout his life. He developed lifelong and impactful relationships in each of his pursuits including H.I.S. BridgeBuilders, Bonton Farms, Serve West Dallas, Think Ahead Group at the Center for BrainHealth and most recently at Central Commons. The mission of Central Commons – serving people of all walks of life who long for a safe place of welcome where unique and diverse people cross paths, interact, and learn from and with each other, thereby giving a glimpse of heaven on earth – was Steve in a nutshell; and an idea that he loved and supported whole heartedly.
Steve is now reunited in Heaven with his mother, Laurie. He is survived by his wife Michelle, daughter Millie Laura, grandmother Molly Goodson, father Steve Owen and his wife Susan, sister Molly Soper, brothers Sam Owen, Ben Owen, Thomas Owen, Jordan McFarland, along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family members from the Owen, Bohl, Goodson, Glasgow, Nichols, Soper, Terry, Greenberg and Lafitte families whom he loved dearly.
A memorial service will be held in the sanctuary of Park Cities Presbyterian Church at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 6, 2023. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Steve to Central Commons (https://www.centralcommons.org) or Bonton Farms (https://bontonfarms.org).
