Stephen J. Smith's Obituary
Stephen James Smith was born January 4, 1924 in Carbondale, Illinois to the late L.M. & Grace Selby Smith and passed on to his heavenly home Memorial Day, May 30 in Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years Margaret Gilmore Smith, children, Cindy Kuchenbrod (daughter), Stephen Lindley Smith (son). Survived by sons: Rick Waits (Wanda), Mark Smith (Monica), grandchildren: Alecia Wolicki (Matthew), Keller Smith (Brandi), Mark Kuchenbrod, Daisy Williams (Ryan), Brecca Smith (Sean), Trevor Smith (Marissa), Truett Smith, Trent Smith, great grandsons: Joshua, Benjamin, Zachary Wolicki, Jonathan Kuchenbrod, Hunter and Hudson Williams. Stephen attended University of Texas and graduated University of Illinois with a degree in architecture . He was a registered architect for 51 years and designed buildings and homes across the Southwest. He designed for: Buford & Feinberg, Grayson W. Gill, George Christensen, U.S. army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Postal Service, and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit System. He was past President of the Dallas Founder Lions Club and past President of the Smith Family Association. The visitation for Stephen Smith will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, June 3, 2016 at Restland Funeral Home. The service for Stephen will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, June 4, 2016 in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Pall bearers; Trevor Smith, Truett Smith, Trent Smith, Russell Wines, Matthew Wolicki, & Doug Swaggard. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
