Stevan Ray Shirey 1952-2024
Stevan “Steve” Shirey, 71 of Azle, Texas, died on February 20, 2024. Steve was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, and was adored by anyone who crossed his path.
Steve was born at Fort Riley Army base in Fort Riley, Kansas on September 23,1952, to Doris Virginia Shirey and Robert Aubrey Shirey. He went to Mesquite High School before joining the United States Air Force from 1971-1979 where he was a Military Policeman and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialist during the Vietnam war and was ranked as a Staff Sergeant.
During the Vietnam war while stationed in Thailand he would meet and later marry Pong Chimboon where he would go on to have 6 children that he loved dearly. Pam, Pat, Robert (Bobby), Sonia, Sonny and Susanna.
After his time in the Air Force he would became a small business owner. After that he worked as a security guard and the last 30 years he worked as a printed circuit board designer. In his life of work no matter what he did he was ready to put in the hard work and always accomplish the tasks at hand.
Also, in the last few years of Steve’s life he met Cheryl who was his soul mate and the love of his life. They would go on to marry on February 16, 2023, and lived in Azle, TX along with their two dogs Rip and Libby.
Steve loved the Dallas Cowboys. He loved the military. He loved serving our country. He loved Babes Chicken. He loved Hutchins BBQ. He loved to travel. He loved country dancing. He loved to work. He loved classic rock. He loved adventure. He loved to tell his stories. He loved hanging out with his best friend Marlin. He loved all his family, his children, his grandkids, his dogs and Cheryl.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Doris, brother Raymond and is survived by his wife Cheryl, daughters Pam, Pat, Sonia, Susanna and sons Bobby and Sonny. Grandchildren Jimmy, Ben, Megan, Jessica, RJ, Will, Alex, Olivia, Amanda, Lisa, Jessica, Kayla, Sean, Seth, Sage, many great grandchildren, nephews Tim and Chris and many cousins.
