I was in utter disbelief when I learned that your parents had passed away. While I did not have the pleasure of knowing Steve personally, I had worked on several leases with him where he served as the broker and I served as the lawyer. We had just finalized a lease the previous week and I spoke on the phone with Steve. I told him that I wanted to set up a lunch with him and the other broker on the deal since I had never gotten to meet them in person, and we agreed to schedule a lunch in mid-July. He was such a pleasure to work with, was smart, very experienced, professional, delightful, respected and memorable. I was so looking forward to meeting him in person since we had gotten along so well, were a great team for the client, and he had made such a great impression on me. I am so saddened that we lost a great man in his profession and a great man in general. I am sure that Gina was just as special as he was. You have my very deepest sympathy and I know you are so proud of your parents, and you have every right to be. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

The world got worse the day that we lost Steve and Gina Thelen, but while there were here they definitely did their part to make it a better place. They were friends, mentors, business partners, golf buddies, season ticket partners to my family, and we will miss them in every one of those roles. They were the most consistent people I have ever met. Steve was consistently at the office at 5:00AM, he consistently played golf on Fridays, he was always in a good mood, always concerned about other people, and he consistently wore bad sweaters when it was cold outside ??. Gina was consistently in the best of moods, consistently made you feel loved and supported, and consistently made whatever situation she was in significantly more fun. I am certain that she had everybody in that plane in the best of moods preparing for the adventure that was ahead, because that is what she does. Most importantly Steve and Gina were examples for so many people on how to be a great wife/husband, parent, friend, boss, business partner, etc. They both made the world a better place, and will be sorely missed.

I went to high school with Steve and attended Steve and Gina’s wedding. We kept in touch occasionally over the years, seeing each other at weddings, etc., and Steve and I had some business dealings together, as he assisted my law firm with its lease. And, in the realm of it’s a small world, my son Andrew worked with Kyle at Texas Capital Bank for awhile and that twist of fate caused Steve and I to reconnect again a couple of years ago. It was a privilege and a pleasure to have known Steve and Gina.Steve and Gina were a great couple and built a remarkable life and family together. Their loss is a terrible tragedy, but I know that they have left a lot of fond memories that their family and friends (including me) will cherish forever. May God bless the Thelen family and extended families of both Steve and Gina. Please know that many of us who knew Steve and Gina send our love and prayers to your family in this time of grief. Time will help with the pain, but the good news is the passage of time will not impact the wonderful memories of laughter, good times, and family love you will have of Steve and Gina (your Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother, Daughter, Granddaughter, Aunt, Uncle, friend, etc. ) which memories will be with you and all of us forever.

Steve was truly a gentlemen and a really caring person. The Bent Tree Country Club has lost one of the best members of our club. I recently went through some serious health issues and Steve was sincerely concerned with my condition and made me feel much better with his caring. I will always remember his always present smile and the way he always made me feel happier any time we would see each other. He loved to laugh and smile and that is something that we all should take from his legacy.

My sons grew up with Steve and his brothers. We knew his Mom and Dad and enjoyed many fun times with them. Steve was a shining example of a good person and was always polite to his elders. My condolences to his family and I will keep them in my prayers.

Your mom and dad were truly wonderful people. Your mother’s smile made everyone feel welcome, she was beautiful. Your dad was one of the best volunteers for The Family Place. During his six years of board service he took on tasks with zeal and professionalism. He was our “real estate guy” and he made sure whatever lease we considered was in the best interest of The Family Place. He would analyze all the numbers to protect us. He never said no to taking on another project. And, even after he retired from the board, he would sell Partners Cards. We loved to talk baseball and fishing, I can still hear his voice with a laugh in his heart. I will miss him.

I worked with Steve when he first started his career with Cushman & Wakefield. So fortunate to watch him grow professionally. So very proud of him! Steve was so easy to work with…honest, kind, humble, great sense of humor and dedicated to being the best professionally and personally. You all have been in my thoughts and prayers daily as I pray the Lord will hold you in the palm of His hand giving you strength, courage, hope and love.
