Steven Jo Hickman's Obituary
Steve passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved friends. He was born in Quincy, Illinois and moved to Garland as a young boy. He graduated from Garland High School in 1967.
He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Garland. He spent most of his life working in hospitals and dedicated his life to helping others. In 2004 he moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with his lifetime companion, Carlos Moran. After retirement, he continued as a hospital volunteer. He volunteered for many years at Broward Health Imperial Point Hospital. He was also very active with the Imperial Point Association where he lived.
Steve was an all-around great guy who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He made many friends in South Florida. Everyone loved and appreciated Steve and his contributions to the community and hospitals. He will be greatly missed.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Corrine Hickman, Father, Hampton Hickman and oldest brother, David Hickman. He is survived by his lifelong partner Carlos Moran, son Stephen Hickman, granddaughter Mia Hernandez Hickman and brother Lynn Hickman. Other surviving family are nephews Chris Mark and Michael Hickman, and a niece Kim Hickman Awalt and sister-in-law Charlotte Hickman. There are several other great nephews, nieces and cousins.
A visitation will be held at Restland Memorial Park on Sunday 5:00-7:30pm.
The Memorial service will be held on Monday, January 29, 2:00 pm in the Wildwood Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors.
