Steven Wayne Jung's Obituary
Steven Wayne Jung went to his Heavenly home on Monday, August 14, 2023 and into the arms of our Lord and Heavenly Father. The first one in the family to be baptized in Christ as a youth, he introduced the family to a deeper understanding of faith in Christ. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. Affectionately known as Daddy-O, Koo, Wiu Chiu, Gong Gong, Yeh Yeh and Steve, he will be greatly missed.
The oldest of three children, he was born to Buck and Helen Jung in Dallas. He graduated from North Dallas High School. He was 17 when he married his beloved wife Lai. They went on to have four devoted children who loved his youthful spirit. He had a way with words that was charming, eloquent and effective. He had a quick wit and dry sense of humor even to the end.
Steve was first and foremost a Christian family man and prioritized his family above everything else in his life. He spent his days taking his children to the park, playing a game of laser tag at home, camping, and going to “Larry’s Lake House” to fish, canoe or practice target shooting.
An avid history buff, Boy Scout leader, jokester, target shooter and shooting instructor, Steve enjoyed the simple things in life. His sense of adventure and love of nature took him on many trips to Philmont camping with the Boy Scouts and other camping trips with his family. He also enjoyed round dancing and square dancing with his beloved Lai in his later years.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Helen. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Lai, son Robert and his wife Isabelle; daughter Jennifer and her husband Max; daughter Pam and her husband Mantak; son Travis and his wife Angie; ten grandchildren; six grand puppies; his father Buck; his sisters Linda Jung Wong and Karen Jung Henery and their spouses and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.
Visitation and service will be on September 2, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
Graveside service will immediately follow on September 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Restland Funeral Home.
