Sue Ellen Nabors' Obituary
Sue Ellen Mauzy Nabors was born on June 28, 1940. She passed away on October 28, 2023, at the age of 83.
Born in Ironton, Missouri to Frank & Helen B Mauzy. Sue was third out of eight children. She became a second mom to her younger siblings and got her love of sewing and cooking from her mother. After high school she attended cosmetology school.
In 1961, she met 6’4’ and very handsome John Nabors. From the moment they met she was swept off her feet and at 6”4’ man he really did sweep her off her feet. They married on December 30, 1961; their life and love is one for the books. She “convinced” John to start their own heating and air conditioning business in 1982. From that point forward he ran the business and Sue ran him.
Sue was an avid quilter, cook and on occasion enjoyed driving north to the state line and hearing the ringing of the slot machines. She loved playing 31, Texas Hold’em and Hand & Foot at Farmers Branch and Carrollton Senior Centers. But her most important “job” in life was being “Mom” to her “perfect, blonde headed, blue eyed” baby Tina.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years John Nabors, parents Frank & Helen Mauzy, brothers Richard aka “Dick” & Shonnie Mauzy, nephew Gary MaGouirk and niece Brenda Lore.
She is survived her daughter, Tina Nabors; Sisters, Judy Moore (Dennis), Janet Mauzy, and Patty MaGouirk; and Brother, Michael Mauzy. Nephews: Kevin, Ted, Stephen Paul, Steven; Nieces: Shannon, Kelly, & Cheri; along with many Grand Nieces and Nephews. Of course, she had an extended family that included Anna Dickerson, Bill Lindsey, Doris Carmichael, Lynne Hall, and all her wonderful friends that she regarded as family.
